Surprised by Joy

I just finished reading Surprised by Joy, by C.S. Lewis...and it is still reverberating in my little head. It is the account of how Lewis went from being an athiest to being a Christian. Although that is what he was writing about, what I found most interesting was the account of his life and childhood. He lost his mom at an early age, was quite isolated from other kids, and distinctly hated interuptions to his play and work (be it social, or school, or whatever). Very interesting. I've long thought that the most brilliant , though sometimes verging on whacked out, minds have isoloted themselves, pruned their social ties etc. Then again isolation can have the completely opposite effect on some.

On the athiest to Christian topic...Lewis tells how he pursued happiness from many avenues (had he grown up in my era it would have been sex, drugs and rock and roll), but didn't find pure happiness until he found God.

As a book, I was longing for better edited text (did I really just write that about C.S. Lewis???), but the topic and the view into Lewis' life was incredibly interesting.
